Estimates are not safety advice
This website describes BeachSignal and links to Sargassum Check, which shows a rough sargassum estimate for each beach it covers. Those estimates are produced from dated regional satellite products, official bulletins, forecasts and webcams. Sources can be late, incomplete, wrong, or not about the particular beach you are looking at. A regional reading never confirms what is on one shoreline, missing evidence is shown as unknown, never as clear, and a "low confidence" label means what it says.
BeachSignal is not a safety service, a health service, a water-quality report, a weather warning service or an official source of any kind. It says nothing about whether it is safe to swim, wade, surf, dive, boat, breathe the air near decomposing seaweed, or let children or animals near the water. Decomposing sargassum releases hydrogen sulphide and ammonia, which can irritate eyes, skin and airways and can be dangerous to people with respiratory conditions; beaches also have rip currents, marine hazards, closures and local rules no estimate can see.
Always follow the flags, lifeguards, signage, closures and advice of local authorities, your hotel and medical professionals. If you have a health condition, ask a doctor before travelling. Nothing on this website is medical, environmental, legal or professional advice.
Photographs
The coastal photograph on this site is a historical illustration of the Tulum coast. It never shows current conditions and is not evidence that any beach is free of sargassum.
